Our chapter will hold its July meeting this Tuesday the 26th at our usual meeting location at Wehrspan Lake in southwest Omaha. We will be meeting on the main level of the NRD building.
The meeting will include discussions of our upcoming NET proposal for a project on Dry Spotted Tail Creek near Mitchell (pictured above) and some preliminary planning for our fundraising banquet this winter., followed by friendly discussion of fishing and such. Several of our members met with representatives of our partners with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Ducks Unlimited, DEQ, and Platte River Basin Environments and the project engineers to plan for submission of our proposal in September. We are close to getting commitments for about half the cost of the project and hope to get the rest through the grant process. The overall goal, creating a more sinuous stream path that will be good habitat for trout and to restore a meadow and create a wetland, can be seen in the engineer's drawing below:
If you want to skip the meeting and just want to socialize and talk fishing, we usually adjourn for drinks nearby at the "Choo Choo" (14240 U St, Omaha, NE 68137) at around 9 PM.
Please do come and participate!
